SCORE SUPERIOR IN AIB INSPECTIONS

18 Manufacturing Plants and Distribution Centers Recognized

JACKSON, Mich. (May 29, 2008) - Dawn Food Products, Inc. announced that 18 of the company’s facilities recently achieved Superior Ratings during the period from January 1 through April 30 during their annual inspections conducted by the American Institute of Baking (AIB).

Eight of the Dawn facilities are distribution centers in Munster, Ind.; Garland, Texas; Ontario, Calif.; Kansas City, Mo.; Salt Lake City, Utah, Douglasville, Ga.; Rogers, Minn., and Edison, N.J.  The remaining 10 are manufacturing facilities in Ossian, Ind.; Louisville, Ky.; York, Pa.; Mexico, Mo.; Douglasville, Ga.; Seattle, Wash.; two in Modesto, Calif. and two in Santa Catarina, NL, Mexico.

The AIB judges manufacturing and distribution facilities based on food safety, sanitation and operational methods in a manufacturing environment.

Thome said the Dawn facilities are inspected by the AIB through unannounced visits, so officials can observe day-to-day procedures under normal circumstances, which make the superior AIB ratings even more prestigious.  “These AIB ratings are a credit to Dawn’s employees, who continuously help make Dawn one of the leading bakery suppliers in the business,” said Thome.
