As we approach the end of the year “01,” it has a special meaning for all of us. For many, it’s trying to get back to some form of normality as we knew it, to which we will never return. Our thoughts are about such things that never existed in this great United States of America prior to September 11.

On the other hand, the actions of this tragedy have brought American citizens together unlike we have known in our lifetime. These actions have nurtured a respect for our leaders; have given us new role models for our children and an appreciation for the freedoms that we have, in the past, taken for granted.

Who knows where this will take us. The direction, I feel, is very healthy. Businesses are struggling to make it through this cycle. The well managed businesses will make it. As is usual, the business which are not well run will fall by the wayside.

The food business, from the standpoint of Dawn’s business of supplying the baking industry, is coming back very well. Quality products build a demand for themselves. Products of lower quality, especially food products, sell once, but repeat sales will not occur. Therefore, it’s a necessity to maintain the bakery product offering. These products must taste good and must be satisfying each time they are purchased. This is a mandate and a standard to which all Dawn products are manufactured.

Our job at Dawn is to help you provide your customers with quality products. We have long known that your success is our success. You can count on us to help you make good quality bakery products for your customers.

I buy bakery products because they taste great, and your customers do the same. It’s a special blessing that we have at Dawn to provide foods from the bounty of America. We take this seriously. Every day we strive to be a better company for our customers and for Dawn people. That’s the way we work.
