DAWN’S LOUISVILLE FACILITY CELEBRATES
20 YEARS OF OPERATION

Dawn Food Products, Inc. is pleased to announce that its Louisville manufacturing facility will be celebrating 20 years of operation at a dinner banquet August 22, 2002, in Louisville, Kentucky. Ron Jones, President and CEO, and John Nally, President of Dawn North America, will join Gary Wietharn, General Manager of the Louisville facility, to mark an extremely successful 20 years of operation.

Dawn completed its acquisition of Besco, Inc., a division of Bessire & Co., on July 30, 1982, and opened its new plant with 32 employees as primarily a wet goods facility servicing the eastern United States. As Dawn’s business grew, the need to expand to meet customer demand increased. Expansion of the facility took place from 1992 through 1994, which doubled the capacity and included the addition of mix production.

Today, the Louisville facility, where sales have increased tenfold since its opening, employs over 170 people, 17 of whom have been with the company since its opening. Louisville currently ships high-quality wet and dry products including bakery mixes and bases, fillings, icings and glazes to customers in the eastern United States as well as 17 international destinations. Throughout the years, innovations in the production of totes, drums and super sacs have given wholesale customers yet another reason to use Dawn products.

The Louisville facility is no stranger to success in the baking industry and in the community. The American Institute of Baking has given the facility Superior rankings the past 5 years. In the community, the facility has been awarded as a Pace Setter for the annual United Way Campaign, and its greatest support is for “The Apple Patch Community,” whose mission is to build a campus that provides adults with mild and moderate mental retardation the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential and lead independent and productive lives. Gary Wietharn serves as the Chairman of the Board for the local not-for-profit organization.
