DAWN FOOD PRODUCTS INC. ANNOUNCES PRICE INCREASE
Increase in raw materials, fuel and operating costs cited
JACKSON, MI (May 30, 2007) - Dawn Food Products, Inc., one of the world’s largest independently owned bakery manufacturers and distributors, has announced it will increase prices for a portion of its manufactured products effective for orders placed on and after June 1, 2007. The increase will help offset rising expenses in operating costs and raw materials such as flour, shortening, eggs and dairy products, as well as escalating diesel prices, which are currently on pace to exceed the record levels experienced in 2006.
“We have resisted raising prices for some time, but we can no longer continue to absorb ongoing cost increases,” said David Kowal, President, U.S. Bakery Products at Dawn. “In order to maintain the high quality and service standards our customers have come to expect from Dawn, it has become apparent that we need to raise our prices.”
Kowal stressed that prices for Weight Watchers® products and all items noted as “NEW” on Dawn’s Bakery Price List dated June 1, 2007, will not be affected.
“We’ll continue working hard to effectively manage costs by constantly improving our buying practices, increasing production efficiencies while continuing to provide customers with excellent full-service bakery support,” said Kowal.
