Dawn Receives Export Achievement from U.S. Ambassador to Singapore

Jackson, Mich. (Dec.15, 2011) – We are pleased to announce that Dawn Foods was recently recognized with an Export Achievement Certificate presented by David Adelman, U.S. Ambassador to Singapore, for our accomplishments in exporting to Asia.  The award was accepted by Scott Pautuk on behalf of Dawn as part of a panel discussion/seminar titled, “Why Singapore? Why Asia? Why Now?”

“We often talk about the importance of building a truly global, diverse business to ensure a strong, healthy future for Dawn,” said Dawn CEO Carrie Jones-Barber.  “This award demonstrates the importance of these efforts and showcases the great work of Dawn’s Export team!”

The Export Achievement Certificate was created by the U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce to recognize U.S. companies that successfully expand into vital international markets for distribution of their products.

Dawn’s export team has invested considerable energy and resources to expand the company’s knowledge and relationships in global markets.  The export team partners with global functions across Dawn to enhance the company’s understanding of increasingly complex global food regulations, ingredient restrictions, labeling requirements and much more.

The "Why Singapore? Why Asia? Why Now?"  program outlines business opportunities in the fast-growing Asian marketplace as well as Singapore's role in providing business expansion for companies based in the United States.  The U.S. serves as Singapore's third largest trade partner and exports to Singapore continue to grow.   

The program featured a roster of speakers who have substantial business development experience in Asia including:

• The Honorable David Adelman, U.S. Ambassador to Singapore was the keynote speaker, covering the United State's national export initiative and priorities in Asia.
• Weisheng Lee, the Regional Director of Eastern Americas Singapore Economic Development Board and Boon Ho Toh, the Center Director of International Enterprises Singapore provided an economic overview of Singapore and its role in the rapidly expanding Asian economy. 
• Patrick Santillo, Senior Commercial Officer, U.S. Commercial Service, U.S. Embassy Singapore shared why now is a good time to enter the Singapore Market.
