No matter where you bakery is located or the type of sweet baked goods you serve, one thing is constant for all of us - we are working to make social distancing work. From heightened safety guidelines and alternative ways of selling, bakeries across the country are striving to keep their operations running efficiently and their customers coming back.
Dawn Foods has focused on equipping bakeries with strategies, marketing tools, and language for sharing your social distancing messages. And bakeries are combining these with their own unique ideas to develop on-brand, stand out communications that get attention, increase customers confidence, and help drive relationships while doors remain shut.
Here we’re taking a look at a few customers who’ve embraced social distancing and are using all the tools in the COVID toolbox. Hopefully they give you sparks of inspiration to use in your ongoing efforts.
Dutch Maid Bakery
This Goshen-based bakery knows how to share their policies for social distancing. They took to Instagram to communicate their new hours and capacity guidelines and used the Dawn Foods signage templates to make it easy for customers to safely stay six feet apart. They also launched to-go products like decorate-at-home cookie kits to keep customers coming back. You can check them out on Instagram at @dutchmaidbakerygoshen.
Peace Love & Little Donuts - Hudson
This Hudson bakery is known for its good vibes and little donuts, and now they’re also known for their COVID creativity. From flash sales that encourage online and to go ordering (they award every fifth order with a gift card) to donut kits you can take home, Peace Love & Little Donuts is working to engage customers in new ways that make sense for everyone’s health and safety. They are also using social media to share this story and attract business. You can follow them on Instagram at @peacelovelittledonutshudson.
This bakery is no stranger to success. They won Dawn’s Sweetest Bakery in America contest in 2017 and 2018 and know how to showcase their ideas. From individual treats packaged for safety and easy transport to cookies of emojis wearing facemasks, Lochel’s has embraced staying safe and incorporated it into their bakery case. They also feature pictures of their staff practicing safe social distancing, which helps build confidence and encourage purchases. You can find them at @lochelsbakery on Instagram.
We know there are hundreds more bakeries using their social platforms and other marketing tools to share their stories of creativity and healthy practices. If you have an idea you want to share, start by sharing it with us at
