What you'll need
5 lbs -
Dawn® Pecan Pie Base
DDA® Fancy Pecan Pieces
DDA® Fancy Half Pecans (optional)
9” Pie Crust
2 lbs 8 oz -
Pure Maple Syrup
Bourbon Whiskey Extract
Mix Dawn® Pecan Pie Base and water according to the directions on the bag. Mix in the Bourbon extract and maple syrup.
Place pecan pieces (approximately 3-4 oz) into a prepared pie crust. Pour prepared pecan pie filling over pecans. Fill pie shell to about ½” from the top. The pecans will float to the top.
Shield the crust with foil or a pie crust shield after about 15 minutes so it doesn’t get too brown.
Bake at 375°F for about 35-40 minutes or until the middle and the edges are evenly puffed, the pie is perfectly browned and no longer jiggles when tapped.
Once the pie is completely baked, transfer the pie plate to a wire rack and cool.
Alternative Finish: If you would like to decorate the top with whole pecans, remove the pie from the oven half-way through the bake and add pecans in a decorative design. Return pie to the oven to finish baking. For decorative leaf designs, use cookie cutters on remaining crust and bake separately until lightly browned. Add to finished pie.
