Sales / Customer Service:
It was the year when Sky TV was launched, Harry Met Sally was the film of the year, Margaret Thatcher was in Number 10 and the Berlin Wall finally came down.
1989 was also the year that Dawn Foods started operating in the UK and we had a party on Friday 30th August to celebrate 30 years in business in the UK!
Production at the Evesham site stopped for two hours over lunch to enable all staff along with Dawn Board Directors, senior management and local dignitaries to enjoy music from a live band, a hog roast, ice creams, cake decorating and a chance to celebrate in the sunshine.
The day kicked off with the opening of the new robot palletisation line at Evesham by Dawn's CEO Carrie Jones-Barber with everyone getting into the party spirit from 12noon. We were delighted that local dignitaries, Councillor Mrs Frances Smith, Chair of Wychavon Council, County Councillor John Smith, OBE and Bradley Thomas, Leader of Wychavon District Council were able to join us too, trying their hand at cake icing and even dancing to the great tunes from Mr Blonde, the live band for the day!
More than £1000 was raised through the fantastic raffle and donated to local charity, Caring Hands in the Vale, the outreach project from The Vale of Evesham Christian Centre that supports individuals and families in need. Diane Bennett, founder of the Caring Hands charity received a cheque from Dawn Foods' Chair of the Board of Directors Miles Jones and our UK and Ireland Cluster Director Tim Clarkson.
