As part of our continued commitment to nurturing a new generation of young bakers, Dawn Foods has partnered with University College Birmingham (UCB) in appointing student ambassadors each year to work with us on seasonal recipe ideas, industry insights, bakery and patisserie tips and much more. The programme, which has been running now since 2017, allows young bakery students to gain valuable insight into the operation of a major bakery manufacturer, as well as partnering with Dawn on several campaigns and product launches. It's a successful initiative for both parties, and along with students' passion for knowledge and desire to experiment it keeps product ideas exciting and fresh. After learning how to bake from her sister, which inspired her to learn bakery at university, Krystal found her passion was in flavours and texture. As a second year Bakery and Patisserie student at University College Birmingham, she is keen to experience as much as possible to enhance her future career in the industry.
Jonah has a keen interest in food product design and development, along with science. He aspires to explore ways in which the bakery industry can make a positive impact on sustainability, to support consumers as they become more conscious about food waste.
Vaishnavi, second year student in Baking and Patisserie at UCB, is very interested in the science and technology part of the bakery industry and wants to develop in the R&D sector.
Her passion was sparked at a young age when she started helping her mother bake cakes at home.
Vaishnavi loves cake decorating and baking cakes for family and friends.
Marko’s passion for bakery started when he was younger and tried making the cakes that his mother was baking.
Marko created his own blog and Instagram @marko_bakes where he shares his love for bakery and interest in food styling and photography.
Within bakery he enjoys making different patisserie products, enriched breads like cinnamon rolls and working with chocolate and finds his degree at UCB the perfect opportunity to develop his passion into a career in the industry.
